Nik treated me on my birthday to see this flick. I loved it so much, I kept the stub. Weird, I know! Some good acting from Sly and a lot of humor in between (i.e. the training scene). No Adrian but her essence was still there.

Here are a few quotes [snagged it from imdb]

[Rocky after being told his fight license application was denied]

Rocky Balboa: Yo, don't I got some rights?
Boxing Commissioner: What rights do you think you're referring to?
Rocky Balboa: Rights, like in that official piece of paper they wrote down the street there?
Boxing Commissioner: That's the Bill of Rights.
Rocky Balboa: Yeah, yeah. Bill of Rights. Don't it say something about going after what makes you happy?
Boxing Commissioner: No, that's the pursuit of happiness. But what's your point
Rocky Balboa: My point is I'm pursuing something and nobody looks too happy about it.
Boxing Commissioner: But... we're just looking out for your interests.
Rocky Balboa: I appreciate that, but maybe you're looking out for your interests just a little bit more. I mean you shouldn't be asking people to come down here and pay the freight on something they paid, it still ain't good enough, I mean you think that's right? I mean maybe you're doing your job but why you gotta stop me from doing mine? Cause if you're willing to go through all the battling you got to go through to get where you want to get, who's got the right to stop you? I mean maybe some of you guys got something you never finished, something you really want to do, something you never said to someone, something... and you're told no, even after you paid your dues? Who's got the right to tell you that, who? Nobody! It's your right to listen to your gut, it ain't nobody's right to say no after you earned the right to be where you want to be and do what you want to do!... You know, the older I get the more things I gotta leave behind, that's life. The only thing I'm asking you guys to leave on the table... is what's right.

Missy Vicki, you crack me up Laughing Wrinkly Shocked Yeah, I gotta agree with you on that! Though, you gotta give him credit, he doesn't look half as bad, compared to other men his age. I think he's like 60 or something Confused

I just got the DVD just the other day and didn't realize how much I miss watching the Rocky saga. The last Rocky movie was released way back in 1990. Now 18 years later, Stallone treats us to yet another great Rocky film. Stallone wanted the viewers to get a sense of familiarity so he went back to some of the locations that was seen in the original 1976 Rocky film. The ice-skating rink, Rocky's old apartment, the pet store and of course the famous Philadelphia Museum steps just to mention a few. Also other little or subtle details such as the two turtles which were originally in a glass bowl back in 1976, are now in a large fish tank in 2006. Don't know if they are the same turtles, but there were a nice addition to the film.

Yes there is no Adrian this time around. But Stallone kept her memories alive throughout the entire film with photos and flashbacks. In the original script, Stallone had Adrian (Talia Shire) alive and well. But he felt that the movie didn't have a powerful enough punch and re-wrote the script based around how Rocky lived in the years after Adrian has past away. A decision that was both smart and moving.

Kids and adults would still find the Rocky soundtrack just as inspiring now as just as it was thirty years ago. Frankly, I don't believe it will ever get old. You want got get all the housework done? Play the "Rocky Theme". Having a hard time starting your daily workout? Break out "Eye of the Tiger" and run up a flight of stairs. Strange how a movie makes work and exercise fun and exciting.

I like how the fight presentation were up to todays standards. Stallone wanted the viewers to watch the fights as it was seen on Pay-per-view or on HBO. So the lighting, camera angles, stat screens and sports announcers were all done to spec. The results are spectacular! For the last thirty years, the Rocky films had inspired us and will be remembered for generations to come.
